Jake & Charlotte: Prime Squirrel Hunting Grounds

For some reason it seems that Fairlington is the squirrel hangout spot. There has not been a single other spot I have been so far that seems to have even near the same amount of squirrels. There must be a squirrel conspiracy against all of the Fairlington dogs. They just know how tempting they are and how easily they can drive dog owners crazy when they dart right in front of their dogs.
Most any street in Fairlington will present you with a close up view of possibly 3-5 squirrels. But there is one hot spot that is just teaming with these little bushy tailed creatures. You can leave it up to Jake and Charlotte to find this perfect squirrel hunting location. They give it four paws up. It's even conveniently located close to their own house so it can be hit up about once or twice a week depending on the weather. (Rain = lots of squishy and dirty mud).

So where is this dog chase squirrel heaven? Right behind the townhouses that are by the elementary school. There are plenty of trees, places to hide nuts, grass, and things to eat. Jake and Charlotte at least get 7-10 squirrels a day to chase up the trees. I wonder if this is the place they dream about at night?

Jake & Charlotte: His' and Hers'

Who would be caught out in the pouring rain without a matching pair of raincoats? Not Jake and Charlotte. It takes a little coaxing to get Charlotte’s raincoat on (just a treat), but Jake is a professional and needs no bribes (it never hurts though). Due to all of the recent rain lately, these two have had a chance to show their raincoats off quite regularly. Throw Kylee’s pink flower raincoat and zebra boots in and you have quite a parade headed out for a walk.
These two have even showed off their canine style savvy for a stroll once or twice into Shirlington, (the doggy place to be and be seen).

Riley & Murphy: Scouting for Trick-or-Treater

Riley and Murphy enjoyed peaking out of their window on Halloween, waiting for any trick-or-treaters to stop by their house. I am sure they would have loved to given them some wet slobbery kisses to go along with their treats, if they had been allowed.

Just having a little walk and enjoying a little talk on a nice and sunny afternoon.
(I don’t think much can be said about these two pictures. They are cute all on their own.)

Murphy: Treasure Hunt

Why are some of the best treasures the most disgusting things dogs can find? Murphy has many brightly colored tennis balls all over his apartment that squeak and I would be more than willing to throw and play with. But no, he would prefer this tennis ball that has been completely covered in slobber and dirt. It just smells and tastes so much better.
This tennis ball was hidden under a bush behind some apartments. Leave it to Murphy’s nose to find it in all places. He was actually not sure what it was at first. As you can see in the pictures he was pretty nervous at first. (You never know if those tennis balls have a mind of their own. They can get you when you are least expecting it.)
In the end, it was pure love. The only trick I had up my sleeve was some irresistible doggy treats that helped me convince Murphy to make the swap. I had to be VERY quick and sneaky to dispose of the tennis ball in the trash can before he finished his treat. Otherwise, his parents would come home to one trash can obsessed puppy.

Riley & Murphy: Sitting, Sitting....Oooh! What is that?

Riley and Murphy have been doing great on their walks. Instead of getting excited about other people and dogs passing by, they sit calmly until I stop giving the sit command. There have been several people that comment on how well-behaved these two can be.

I decided to try to take some pictures of them behaving so well, but carrying a child, holding two leashes, and trying to take pictures made for some funny pictures.

But they never got out of their sit position. (I love how bored these two look at the moment.)

Kylee and I hope that you all had a great Halloween.

Kylee had a great time showing off her poodle skirt to anyone and everyone.
We did a little bit of trick-or-treating just to show her what it was all about and she seemed to love meeting new people and choosing her own candy to put in her bucket. (Her favorite houses were the ones where she was greeted by a dog at the front door. Imagine that)
