Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

Kylee and I wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! We hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their holidays.

Kylee has been enjoying playing with all of her cousins, hanging out with her grandparents, chasing the dogs, cats and chickens at the neighbors, going for horseback rides, and going on four-wheeler and sled rides.

We miss everyone and are looking forward to seeing all of our pups again after the New Years!

Mr. Bigglesworth: Lap Puppy

As soon as you get down on your knees this little guy will just throw himself into your lap. Literally! Within two seconds he just goes limp and then looks up to you begging for a nice scratch.
Most of the time he can fit his whole body on your lap, but there have been a few times that Kylee has already been sitting on my lap. No matter, Mr. Bigg will find a way. He is just fine if he can only fit half his body on your lap. The rest will just hang down or rest on the floor.

Douglas: I Did It!

What did I do? I finally wore Douglas out enough for him to stand still for a few pictures that turned out really cute.
This is an all time new accomplishment for me. (It only took almost a year of walking Douglas.)
That should show you how hyper he can be. I took him for a long walk to Fort Ward where we did a few laps and said hello to several dogs along the way. I guess after the car rides and the walking, it just wore his energy right out of him.

Snoopy: Squeaky Toy Obsession

Snoopy has a soft spot for anything that is soft and squeaks: stuffed newspapers, ducks, dogs, frogs, even socks. After each walk he LOVES to play fetch and tug-a-war with one of his toys.

If you think you are going to get away without playing for a little bit? Forget about it. Snoopy will not have any of that. If you do not start playing with him, then he will jump up and down and bark until you’ll start playing. (You should see how high he can jump, almost 3 feet).
I think one of Snoopy’s favorite parts of playing fetch is picking out his own toy. He loves to go over to his toy pile, snoop around for that perfect toy, and then come running back to you with his newly founded treasure.

Murphy: Fab' Fashion

Murphy felt a little left out when he saw all the other pups strutting their stuff two weeks ago in their winter wear.
Murphy proved that he has just as much fashion sense as the last pup in his fleece hoodie.
He even enjoys being outside longer during these cold days if he is sporting his fleece wear.

Riley & Murphy: Tug-A-Bush

Murphy decided to take tug-a-war to a whole different level: junipers, bushes, and trees. I guess he gets tired once in a while of just playing with Riley and me. I guess we just do not present enough of a challenge for him.
Every so often Murphy will take to trying to tug a branch or root from a tree. It is pretty funny to watch how much effort he puts into each tug. There have been a few times that he has actually come away with a bush, but he has still not been able to conquer any trees yet.

Riley & Murphy: Smitten with Mittens

Due to the cold weather, Kylee and I have been bundling up a lot more. This has included the addition of mittens for both of us. This has brought out a whole new obsession for Murphy: smitten for mittens. As soon as he sees one, he can barely contain himself. It just has to be something about biting into that soft warm fleece.
Riley has shown a little interest, but mainly just curiosity of what has gotten Murphy so head over paws. From the few times he has sniffed them out, nothing too incredible.
Murphy has gotten pretty good at being reminded to leave them, but if you take your eye off of him for more than a second you can guarantee you are going to be missing at least one mitten.
An advantage to this new obsession is that he has excellent lost shoe and mitten radar. Thanks to him I have been spared having to backtrack for Kylee's fallen shoe and mitten. (Just yesterday he saved Kylee's fallen mitten that I had no idea of until I saw him carrying it to the house.) Thank you Murphy.

P.S. Today we had our first day that we returned from our walk with all four hands still covered by their mittens. This is encouraging!

Murphy: Puppy Dog Eyes

Murphy has the art of puppy dog eyes down pat. If you have a favorite treat or something that looks of interest he loves to peer up to the table and glare you down with those eyes.
If this attempt fails then he will sit patiently and tell you how he is feeling with his barks. There will be an occasional jump here and there to help add some emphasis.

Now if for some reason you have not been swayed yet, Murphy is not giving up on you just yet. Last but not least, he will try to persuade you with his puppy toothy grin. It is hard to tell if this should be menacing or sweet? The teeth make it a little scary, but with it all together you cannot help but laugh and give Murphy what he wants.

Snoopy: LEAVES! They are everywhere!

Poor Snoopy, he just can't get away from the onslaught of leaves. With this wind the past several days and the multitude of leaves Snoopy has been getting the short end of the stick, especially with having such short legs.
If he sees a large pile of leaves during our walk he will actually take the extra time to go completely around them. Example, yesterday the sidewalk was covered in leaves, there was no way you could continue walking without entering the leaves. Instead of choosing the shortest path, Snoopy went around all of the cars, into the park lot, walked past the leaves, and then hopped back up onto the sidewalk.
After all his careful planning, on our return to his apartment the wind kicked up and a blast of leaves from nowhere pelted poor Snoopy. He was a little upset about this situation. Good luck today Snoopy with Round 2 of Wind and Leaves. Hopefully we will have better luck.

Mr. Bigglesworth: Cousin Miko

This week Mr. Bigg has a visitor, meet his cousin Miko:
He is a pretty cute little guy and he definitely gives Mr. Bigg a run for his money and some competition in the attention area.

This little guy was pretty shy when Kylee and I first arrived to take him out for a walk, but it did not take too many peanut butter treats or saying the word "walk" too many times before he warmed right up.

After our walk he could not get enough of chasing Kylee around and around the apartment. This was a good way to tire them both out. Mr. Bigglesworth and I just sat back and watched the silliness commence as Mr. Bigg enjoyed some deserved attention.
(Don't worry Mr. Bigg, even though Miko is pretty cute you are still Kylee's favorite because you will just sit on her lap and let her pet you.)

Jake & Charlotte: Doggy Cupcakes

While their mom is away Kylee and I are taking care of Jake and Charlotte for the next (almost) two weeks. Today during our afternoon visit we brought them a little early Christmas surprise of doggy cupcakes and homemade dog bone biscuits.
As soon as Jake and Charlotte were let out of their crate, Charlotte made an immediate beeline to the kitchen counter to spot what her nose could smell. Thankfully she could not quite reach, but she kept trying.

I tried to get a picture of Jake and Charlotte sitting quietly for their treats, but Jake just could not contain the wiggleworm in himself. Every time I tried to take a picture he would turn into a blur.

Kylee and I were amazed by how quickly they wolfed down their treats. They were gone in the blink of an eye. At least we know they liked them.

Comments: Brag, Laugh, Share!

I do not know how familiar everyone is with blogs and blogging. Just wanted to let you know about a great little feature that blogs have to offer. It is called "Comments." There is always a link under each post that allows you to place comments about your own posts or others' posts.

This gives everyone the great chance to talk about their own pet's funny stories or make comments about others' funny stories. I just wanted to give everyone the opportunity to enjoy the blog more.

Riley & Murphy: All You Can Eat Salad Bar

I give credit for the name of this post to Murphy's owner, Josh. He has been the one that has mentioned before that Murphy enjoys perusing the grass along the sidewalk to enjoy his greens. While Murphy was still a puppy it was almost impossible to keep him from eating from the salad bar every few feet. He just could not get enough.
As you can see, once in a while Riley will get in on it as well. As Murphy has gotten older he is usually now more interested in the smells that can be found, but once in awhile these two like to take a few sampling mouthfuls to keep their breath fresh and grassy. Yum!

Mr. Bigglesworth & Snoopy: Chic and Stylish Pups

Who would want to be caught outside in the cold in anything less than chic and trendy?
These two pups sported their jackets and sweaters on their walks today.
Who knew a dachshund and poodle/bichon could have such fashion sense?
Snoopy chose his orange and hunter green coat to go along with the colors of the fall leaves. What a color conscience guy.
Mr. Bigglesworth went with a green and blue striped hoody to bring out his charcoal coat and enhance his macho physique.

In the end, these two guys looked very cute and handsome for their walks and seemed to enjoy the extra attention it brought them from people passing by.
